Interest accrued on different day-count conventions

The lender accrues on actual/360; the borrower on actual/365. The quarterly interest differs by a predictable amount.

What the agent does

  1. Read the day-count convention in the loan agreement
  2. Recompute the interest under the contractual convention
  3. Identify which side departed from the agreement and draft the correction

What you get back

Interest difference explained to the cent with the convention cited; correction drafted for the side that is off-contract.
