Goods in transit at period end

A ships on 28 September; B receives on 2 October. A has recognised revenue and a receivable; B has neither inventory nor a payable.

What the agent does

  1. Read the Incoterm on the invoice and the agreement to establish when title passes
  2. Locate the shipment date and the receipt date in the documents
  3. Classify as goods-in-transit and compute the inventory and payable B should recognise if title passed on shipment

What you get back

Goods-in-transit schedule for the consolidation, with the Incoterm and document references that justify the treatment.

Boundaries

Transfer of title is read from the documents; if the Incoterm is missing the item goes to the controller as a question, not a guess.
